2023 in review
A few 2023 highlights to reflect on:
i could say never say this enough, but thank you for pressing play. it is an absolute dream come true that any of you listen to my music.
Next year I’ll be doing somethin special for everyone who has me in their Top 5 on Spotify, and I'm going even harder for anyone who has me as their #1. I don’t care how many people it is, I got you.
lessons learned & perspectives gained:
“If you’re not failing, you’re not even trying”.
I could not agree with that statement more. If you wish to reveal the greatest version of yourself, you must be willing to test your “limits” and have no fear of failure in doing so. Failure is imminent, it’s a part of the process, and I would go as far as saying that failure is usually a sign you’re on the right path. So where did this mindset lead me and what did I learn this year?
- Do not focus on the numbers. Create a plan and focus on the daily process. Stay consistent and execute. The audience will come.
- Be extremely cautious who you collaborate with. Other artist’s egos will deflate the vision of your project real quick and folks will steal your money and take advantage of you in an instant if they see the opportunity. Move with caution.
- The ability to make quick decisions and not overthink things is so valuable. This is also something I am trying to make improvements on. Create a plan and execute.
- Most of our society has a shortened attention span in this oversaturated market. Short form content is key and so is consistency. This isn't new, but did take me a while to accept. Hence why I am planning to release music more consistently in 2024.
- Be grateful, and always remember your WHY (for the love of the art)
Speaking of gratitude, I want to give a big shout-out to my right hand man, Tommy Tette. If you are a fan of Slip Fish, then you are a fan of Tommy Tette. For those of you who may not know, Tommy is the designer of all the slip fish cover art, he shot and edited the euphoria movie, maintains the website, and handles quite a bit behind the scenes. Big love and thanks to my guy Rooftop Tommy ❤️
lil sumn of what to expect in 2024:
My number one goal for 2024 is to release at least one song a month for the year. I am also planning to release a lot more visuals, including a few music videos, some freestyles, and maybe a few skits, interviews, lyric breakdowns, behind the scenes, and more. If you have any fun suggestions on the type of content you wanna see, please let me know!
I am determined to keep finding ways to connect with my listeners on a deeper level. This will probably take place in the form of more blogs, YouTube uploads, and live performances. (Keep your eyes peeled for show announcements).
You can also expect some incredibly fire merch pieces dropping in 2024. (one of the most beneficial ways to support independent artists, cop some merch 🙏🏻)
That is about all I can give you for now, but just know... underneath the surface we’re working.
